Can we bring our own wedding cake?

Yes, as long as it is coming from a commercial kitchen and transported safely. There is a 2 dollar per person plating fee.

 

Can we bring our own caterers?
Yes, you can bring your own caterer. The food has to come from commercial kitchen and transported safely. If you would like us to provide plates, cutlery and serve, there is a 6 dollar charge per person.

Do we need to get liquor permit?
No, we are licensed and can serve liquor in the designated areas (if you BYOB would be the only exception)

 

Can we bring our own liquor?
Yes, however there is a corkage fee

 

Do you have a bar?

Yes, we can set up the bar and have bartender. Bar setup is 150 and bartender is 20 per hour

 

Is there A/C in the tent?

No, we don’t have A/C, however all the sides can be opened. We will also be installing ceiling fans this season

 

Is there heating in the tent?
Yes, we can close all the sides and provide heaters. 

 

What is a typical timeline for weddings?

The day before 

7pm Rehearsal with Snacks and Refreshments

9pm Bride and Bridesmaids check-in to Third floor

The day of wedding

9am Breakfast 

9:30am - 11:30am Make up and hair, getting ready, bride and detail shots

12pm Lunch

1pm First Look and pictures with the wedding party at the castle

2:30pm Touch up

3pm Ceremony

4pm Congratulations and pictures with the guests

5pm Pictures with the wedding party at Morden research station. Guests enjoy refreshments and appetizers on the patio

6pm Reception (dinner)

7pm Toasts

8pm Cake cutting

9pm Dance

10pm Thanking everyone for coming. Newlyweds spend the night on the Third floor

 

The day after

Breakfast for the couple or immediate family between 9am - 11am

 

Are there wood ticks in the Spring?
No, we are in the city, so there are no ticks

 

Are the grounds wheelchair accessible?
Yes, we are, including washrooms.

 

How many washroom facilities do you have?
We have four washrooms beside the tent and two on the main floor of the castle. One larger washroom on the second floor is perfect for changing.

 

Do you have a nursing room?
No, we don’t specifically have a nursing room. However, we can certainly provide your guest with a private space.

 

Is there adequate parking?
Yes, there is lots of parking on Stephen St and North Railway St

 

Where is the ceremony hosted?
Most couples choose in our garden under the white iron gazebo, however you can choose in the front yard as well in front of century old doors to the Courtyard.

 

What if it rains?
Backup ceremony location is in the transparent tent under the white arbor

 

Where is the reception hosted?

Most couples choose to have it in the transparent tent, however you can also have it on the patio if you prefer outdoors

 

Which months do you operate the transparent tent?

We host events and weddings of 2 - 90 people (110 non covid times) from May to beginning of October 

 

Can you host weddings inside the castle?
Yes, we can with a capacity of 30 people (non-covid times 40 people)

 

Are there lots of hotels in the area?
Yes, we suggest that your wedding party or most important guests stay in the suites at the castle. For the rest of the guests, we suggest to block off rooms at the newly opened Best Western in Morden. 

 

What can my guests do while they are in Morden?
Morden is a scenic town. Stephen St has boutiques, an art gallery, coffee shops that your guests can visit before the wedding. Lake Minnewasta is only 5 minutes away as well as Minnewasta Golf Course and Stardust Drive-in Theatre. There are two museums in the area; Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre (or dinosaur museum) and Pembina Threshermen’s Museum. If you are the adventurous type there is a also Hywire 
Zip-lining.

 

Can you decorate for us?
You bet, by adding Decor Package for only 500, we take care of decor and setup. If you would like to rent extra decor please check the vendors list for suggested party rentals

 

Are candles allowed?
Yes, if you have candle holders or doilies to catch the wax

What time does the party end?
We are located in both commercial and residential zone, we ask you to be respectful of our neighbours and turn the music down at 11pm

 

Do you have speakers?
Yes, you can rent speakers with microphones for only 100

I have seen a classical car in many pictures, can we rent it?
Not at this moment, however if requested we can bring out our 1951 Styleline for pictures
